SCION WOOD are sticks of the last season's growth of named cultivars with dormant vegetative buds to graft onto your own rootstock. I try to collect sticks of 3/16-5/16" diameter with 5-6 good healthy buds which is enough for two whip or cleft grafts or 5-6 chip buds (or a couple tries at one graft!) If last season's growth was short, I will provide two shorter sticks to still give you 5-6 good buds. If your rootstock is large, you can use a double cleft graft, etc. but if you have very small caliper (<1/8") rootstock let me know and I can check what we have to see if it will work. All scion wood is shipped while it is still cold out beginning in February, in the order received, and needs to be kept slightly moist at 32-40 degrees until you graft with it. The refrigerator works well. Shipping is $9.00 priority mail no matter how many you get!
The weather and the postal service are beyond my control, please note that orders placed after mid March may be degraded in shipping if significantly delayed in transit, you assume this risk, unfortunately USPS no longer guarantees 3 days. Ordering by February insures the best shipping conditions.
