As willow grows it is sequestering carbon dioxide from the air, and using it to build wood above ground and roots below. The wood we can harvest each year for basketry, decoration, garden stakes, and more, while the vigorous roots are breaking up compacted soil and working with with soil fungi to create humus. Willow has so much life force that to start a tree you simply plant a properly prepared stick in the ground and it will grow roots and shoots. We plant basket willow 8-10" inches apart in rows 4' apart for annual coppicing, ornamental willows can be planted several feet apart. Once you have a willow variety, you can propagate more yourself for free!
We sell bundles of 5 cuttings of each of the varieties below. We ship in April for you to plant immediately. Flat rate $9.00 shipping includes any amount of scion wood, fig, and willow cuttings. Orders which include scion wood will ship in March. Cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until planting. If you wish to receive scion wood in March and cuttings in April please make two orders.
