Akane is our single most asked for variety at market, even though people dont't know how to say it! It's that bright red medium sized sweet/tart that's so crisp and flavorful, that really kicks off the season in september. Japanese variety that's a play on the word for red, pronounced Ah-con-EE. Scab resistant, too! Keeps a few weeks, and makes an excellent hard cider.
