Maybe it's because I was a potter, but I think drinking out of plastic is gross. Long before the BPA scare I was carrying around a mason jar of water. Glass is inert, easy to clean, and doesn't grow a slimy biofilm or retain off flavors. But a mason jar is kinda awkward to carry, so I made a leather cross-body holder to carry and protect it. Here it is, after 10 years of daily use on the farm in all weather, next to a freshly sewn one.
Handsewn with a saddle stitch by me from luxurious Horween Chromexcel steerhide. This wonderful thick, oiled, weather resistant leather is tanned in Chicago! It has a gorgeous pull-up (changes color when you bend it). The perfect leather for wearing out in the elements. Will soften and mold to your body + tools as you wear it, and will last a lifetime. Hardware is all solid brass.
