Four (4) seedling Nyirség black locust trees. Black locust is a leguminous native tree with many uses! Rot resistant wood splits easily and is used for fence and vineyard posts. It is a potential fodder when pollarded. The flowers are a major source of high quality honey, and can be eaten! Living fence posts, rot resistant lumber, fast growing, erosion control, reforestation, and the very best firewood, very high btu. It resprouts and pollards well. One drawback is it tends to be variable form, sometimes curvy, limiting use for lumber and posts. Well over 100 years ago Hungarian foresters took notice of this exotic (to them) species, imported and started breeding it. It is now a major forestry crop tree there, selected for rapid straight growth! I am excited to have been able to grow out some imported seeds and bring them back home! 9" easy to plant treepot, trimmed to 18" for shipment.
